Introduction

The Border Inspector role is responsible for inspecting and enforcing compliance to border control regulations for cross border trade in agronomic and horticulture products being imported, intransit and/or exported in accordance with the Agronomic Industry Act (Act 20 of 1992). The Border Inspector is required to assist with implementing the border control procedures to effectively investigate agronomic and horticulture products arriving in or departing from Namibia in line with approved permit rules and procedures.

Qualifications, Work Experience and Skills

 

Minimum Qualification:

A 3 years Diploma in Agriculture Economics, Crop Science, Agronomy and Horticulture related technical field.  Additional Degree in any of the above-mentioned or certificate related to quality control/ assurance, food science, HACCP, GAP, Risk Management and law enforcement will be an added advantage.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE

  • The Namibian Agronomic Industry Act, 20 of 1992.
  • Border control regulations.
  • The Grain Marketing Mechanisms for white maize, wheat and pearl millet.
  • White Maize and Pear Millet Grading standard/ Gazette.
  • Horticulture Market Share Promotion Scheme.
